Check Out The Des Moines Egotist's Annual Review ... And You're The Boss

/ Comments (4)

It's been about a year since we launched The Des Moines Egotist with an Apple IIc, an extension cord and a old wooden door laid across a couple saw horses in the back room of a dusty, cold basement. We've grown from nothing to a respectable few hundred people visiting us every day. Creative people. From ad agencies and design companies all across the state.

So, it's time for our annual review. How we're doing? What do you like? What would you like more of? More profiles and interview? Work from local creatives? What sucks? Why aren't you a member? What's holding you back from sending us your local work? Volunteering to pimp yourself with a profile interview? Commenting on posts? Are you just shy?

We've got ideas and plans ... really cool ones. But we need some help. Let us know if you want to help elevate Iowa's creative community and we'll scoot over and give you some space ... But you'll need to bring your own chair.

More interactive things. Such as design giveaways - maybe from featured artists/designers, which means we want more profile interviews!
<3 you.

i wanted my name to not say "not verified" so i'm posting this twice.

I thumbs up Keelia's post. Perhaps an annual event... maybe some contests... if a business needs a commercial or ad made, offer it up to your egotists.

I really like the idea of a "Best of..." type of online event. And not a voter-type of thing (those seem to be easily swayed in a local environment). Maybe collect entries and have other city "Egotists" be the judges - not locals.

Also, feature a before/after gallery. Something that shows the evolution of a brand/thought process.
