The Des Moines Egotist serves as the hub of creative work, talent and resources across Iowa. The site is one of a growing network of localized Egotist websites across North America (and soon the world), focused on highlighting the ideas and work of the local creative community and sharing creative ideas and resources nationally and internationally.

So, Why Des Moines?
Because we believe Des Moines could be the next Mecca of creativity. It just doesn’t know it yet.

Manifesto
The Des Moines creative community is an underestimated and under-utilized asset. Our mission is simply to change that by challenging mediocrity, touting excellence and fostering conversation and growth. Greatness comes from bold, sometimes radical thinking. It is our job to help promote local business growth by encouraging bigger thinking and bolder ideas. In doing this, we hope to build and attract an even stronger creative community which will foster more business growth for our community.

The Des Moines Egotist exists to promote business and community growth. We have no patience for creative mediocrity, safe marketing strategy or those who are content with the status quo. If you do, be prepared for us to challenge you.

Companies aren’t creative. People are. We aim to tout the best of our community – and we expect you to help. That means if you’re a part of our community – as a photographer, illustrator, director, writer, designer, entrepreneur, musician, artist, architect, social media guru, cartoonist or whatever – we’re expecting you to help in our mission.
