Position Purpose

* The purpose of this internship is to contribute to the curatorial department and gain practical hands-on knowledge of the Architecture, Design & Graphics department within the Denver Art Museum, a non-profit institution.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

* Engage in directed research on recent and potential acquisitions for the permanent collection
* Conduct research on current and upcoming exhibitions and programs
* Upkeep of the archive files, collection database, and departmental library
* Assist with special projects such as writing didactic materials as needed
* Address a wide range of issues related to the department

Job Qualifications

* Strong interest in design and/or curatorial practice
* Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
* Be able to work independently, thoroughly and with attention to detail
* Must have familiarity with academic research sites, such as JSTOR and Avery
* Familiarity with architecture and/or art historical works and terminology
* Comfort using university and public libraries
* Some graduate school experience preferred

Additional Information

This is a part-time internship with no compensation. It requires a 16 hr/week commitment until the end of 2011 (December 31st).
