Art Director
About the Job:
Kidrobot, the leading manufacturer in the art-toy community, is looking for a seasoned Art Director/ Creative genius to lead the in-house Brand Creative services department. The position requires an exceptionally creative and focused individual, who is ready to infuse style into all visual communications, from concept through to execution, across multiple brand identities. Responsibilities vary from brainstorming, art direction and design strategy, to photo direction and brand copy approval. Must be able to supervise a team designing advertising collateral, packaging and all consumer facing brand assets, as well as help define and execute brand vision standards.
This creative mastermind will be familiar with a wide variety of design concepts, practices, and procedures, as well as be confident in directing the work of others. This position will focus heavily on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. You have strategic vision, passion for quality and be willing to embrace the company culture in its entirety. A wide variety of design deliverables will be part of day to day operations, and a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This position will focus heavily on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. In the end, you are the decision maker who is responsible for the quality of the finished product and assuring all deliverables are “on brand”.
The ideal candidate will be able to deliver positive critique and direction to designers and project managers, as well as effectively communicate, collaborate and help organize internal workflow. You will have your hands in many different types of work and be responsible for assuring projects are finished on-time in a very fast paced environment. Flexibility and a positive attitude are crucial, as well as ability to build creative briefs, distill information (pertaining to various projects) and work closely with a creative director. Brand knowledge is a plus, along with a product packaging obsession and strong communication abilities.
Qualifications:
• 7-10 years of graphic design, Art Direction and/ or packaging experience
• A talented hands on designer, highly conceptual thinker & clear communicator
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite in a Mac environment
• A strong knowledge of typographical principles, layout and an innate sense of style
• Experience with directing photography, illustration & copy writing
• A strong understanding of print processes & stellar attention to detail
• Knowledge and sensitivity to interactive design principles, usability and online branding
• Deadline oriented, Excellent communication ability and organizational skills
• Self motivation, organization, and the ability to excel both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• A strong Collaborator, with a positive attitude and future vision
• A great portfolio showcasing your experience
• Knowledge of the brand, consumer and history of Kidrobot is a plus
